Shradha Sapru, and Soundarya Krishnan, students of Class X of Delhi Public School Bangalore North qualified for the second level in the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) with the 20th rank and 22nd rank in the state.
The National Talent Search Scheme started in the year 1963. The purpose of the scheme is to identify talented students and nurture them. The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is conducted across all the states and union territories of India every year by NCERT, New Delhi for the students of class X. In Karnataka, the exam for the year 2013-14 was held on 17th November 2013. Out of 51,320 students who wrote the exam from Karnataka, only 233 qualified for the second level (National level). Those who qualify the second level are entitled to a scholarship (by NCERT, Delhi) till they complete their education.
The Stage I examination which was held at the State level comprised of two parts, namely (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT) and (b) Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), which also included Language Comprehensive Test. The total duration for the exam was 3 hours. She is now going to appear for the Second level (National Level) of the exam, which is due to be held on 11th May 2014.
